2025 Season

The 2025 season of the fieldwork at Nessana took place in February 2025. The excavations focus on two areas. At the Area CC, the excavation of the Byzantine complex identified as a pilgrimage hospice was continued, exposing additional rooms, the substructure of the church, the open courtyard paved with mosaic, and richly decorated caldarium of the bathhouse. At the Area AA, the excavations proceed towards the main street of the ancient settlement. The 2025 season will continue in summer 2025, as part of archaeological practicum for the department’ students.
